Dog Psychology 101
Sunday October 22nd at 12:30pm- 5 SPOTS LEFT
Very often as trainers we get asked questions on how to stop or fix a specific behavior. What isn’t often asked is what we can do as owners everyday to prevent these behaviors from occurring in the first place. We often see this pattern repeated in society, where as a whole we tend to focus more on reactive suppression and less on prevention or root cause. Dog Psychology 101 is a one hour seminar taught by award winning Dogology trainers Ben Garson and Mike Ouellette which focuses specifically on these concepts. The idea that everything you do with your dog from the moment you get up in the morning until the time you go to bed effects how they behave. Understanding how your dog thinks, how you should be correcting unwanted behavior, how you should be rewarding good behaviors and how making small changes in your interactions with your dogs can all prevent unwanted behaviors from occurring in the first place. Our goal is to offer insight into why your dog does what he or she does and to highlight common mistakes and misconceptions in training.
